Connect your Twilio (self-serve)

Keep your own Twilio account and numbers. You pay Twilio directly; SIPmind connects to your account and does the setup on Twilio's side for you — no webhook to copy, no SIP credentials to hand over, no porting. Full picture: the 5-step guide.

Steps:

  1. Create a Twilio account and buy a voice-capable number (~$1/mo), if you do not have one yet.
  2. In the Twilio Console, on the first page after you sign in (Account Info), copy the Account SID and the Auth Token.
  3. In SIPmind → Telephony → Connect your Twilio, paste both and press Connect Twilio. SIPmind checks them with Twilio and keeps the token encrypted; it is never shown again.
  4. Tick the numbers your agent should answer and press Connect selected numbers. SIPmind points each of them at your agent — calls and text messages — so there is nothing to change in the Twilio Console.
  5. Call the number. The AI answers in real time, and the call shows up in your dashboard with a transcript + summary. A text message to the number appears in your history too.

Calls out. If outbound calling was not set up yet, the agent's calls now leave through your Twilio account, from the first number you connected. To use another one, choose it in Settings → Outbound: it must be one of the numbers connected from your Twilio. Calls you place from the browser or app phone do not go through your Twilio yet.

Handing a caller to a person. When the agent transfers a call, your Twilio account rings the person for up to 60 seconds and records the conversation from the moment they answer. Who answered, how long they talked and the recording appear on the call; if nobody answers, a call-back task is opened.

What is billed where. Twilio bills your Twilio account: the numbers, the minutes of every call in and out, and the leg to a person after a transfer. The transfer recordings are also kept on your Twilio account. SIPmind bills your plan as for any other line — each connected number uses one of your plan's phone lines.

Replacing the Auth Token. If you change the Auth Token in Twilio, your agent stops answering until SIPmind has the new one. Open Telephony → Connect your Twilio → Replace the Auth Token and paste the Account SID with the new token; your numbers stay connected.

Disconnecting. Disconnect stops routing the numbers to your agent, clears SIPmind's addresses from them in Twilio (only where they still point at SIPmind) and deletes the token from SIPmind. The numbers stay on your Twilio account. One Twilio account connects to one SIPmind account.

Prerequisite: a plan with calls — the trial and every plan except Office. Office answers messages only, and your own AI key does not add calls to it. Integrators: the same connection is POST /api/v1/channels/twilio (see /developers). Prefer we set it up? The done-for-you option provisions everything for you.
